What is decryption & how does it work?

Decryption is taking encoded or encrypted text or other data and converting it back into text you or the computer can read and understand. This term could describe a method of unencrypting the data manually or unencrypting the data using the proper codes or keys. Data may be encrypted to make it difficult for someone to steal the information.

What is the difference between encrypting and decrypting?

Encrypting and decrypting are used to hide something (a secret message), while encoding and decoding are used to bring an information into a specific form (e.g. to send it over an internet connection). So encryption is part of cryptography and usually relies on a secret key. Only with this key one can decrypt the message read the original message.
